Applying salt will help release leaches that at- tach to skin.

EMERGENCY

In case of an emergency call 911, using the beach phone located in the the phone cabinet next to the picnic area. Telephone numbers for the nearest emergency medical services are posted. First aid kits are kept in the two first aid stations.

WATERCRAFT STORAGE AND LAUNCH AREA

The following procedures are in operation to keep this area orderly, convenient and functional:

• There is no parking in the lower area of the launch road.
• The boat dock is to be used for launching watercraft only. It should not be used as a sitting area. Fishing from the boat dock is not permitted.
• All watercraft should be stored on the assigned racks
• No watercraft should be left on the ground. It creates an unsafe condition for those removing their watercraft from the racks and transporting them to the launch area.
• Any watercraft that cannot be stored on the assigned racks should be removed to the homeowner’s property.
• All watercraft stored in the boat storage area must have the owner’s name placed on the right side of the craft.
• On the lower area of the launch road there is a GUEST rack for temporary use by resident’s guests/renters. Watercraft should not be left on this rack for more than two weeks. This rack is for guests/renters only and should not be used by homeowner’s, as they should have their own assigned slots.
• Further down toward the water there is another rack (labeled ‘X’) that is assigned for larger watercraft such as sailboats and very large canoes. Only those spaces assigned to a homeowner are to be used on this rack.
• On the left side of launch road near the water, the Lodge maintains its own boat storage area. No watercraft can be removed from this area without prior permission from the Lodge. Also, no member’s watercraft can be placed in this area.
• No watercraft are to be left on the launch road or waterfront. Once the watercraft is loaded, it is to be removed from the area so that other members may safely launch their craft.
• If it is necessary to temporarily return to the shore, (bathroom stop, lunch, etc.) the watercraft can be left on the RIGHT side of the boat ramp, either tied to the dock or on the shoreline – NOT in the launch area. At the end of each day, all watercraft should be returned to the assigned racks.

Tips on Winter Storage:

When boats are put up on racks for winter it’s important to secure them against the elements. Tie down BOTH ends of canoes and kayaks that are vulnerable to high winds blowing them off the racks. Quite often these upended boats will fill with rain or melting snow making hulls susceptible to damage by the weight or the freezing of the water.

In addition, check the rack construction for wear and tear. If a support breaks it’s likely that boats will fall and damage those below. Also, check for limbs or trees that are likely to break off and damage your equipment.

Storage Rack Availability:

The boat storage area and racks are controlled and maintained by the GHPOA for the use of Garnet Hill property owners. It is our policy to provide rack space as needed to all owners, not to exceed two slots for a developed lot and one slot for an undeveloped lot. Boat rack assignments do not get passed on when a property is sold. Homeowner needing boat rack space should apply to the Waterfront Committee for a rack assignment.
